While Critical of Rush to War, Inouye, Akaka, Others Call for Troop Support

Inouye spokeswoman Jennifer Sabas said with Bush's ultimatum and as war gets closer to the inevitable, the senator feels its time to send a unified message of support to the 250,000 U.S. troops in the Middle East.
Inouye and fellow Sen. Daniel Akaka both voted against the resolution giving Bush the broad authority to use military force against Iraq with or without United Nations support.
"He's been there before and he feels we cannot send a mixed message to the troops,'' Sabas said. "The personal feelings can take a back seat at this point.''
