Depression, Poverty Seen In City's Asian Seniors

The study not only examined the respondents' physical and mental health but also their quality of life and their sense of satisfaction.

Among some of its findings:

  • Some 40 percent of those queried said they were mildly to severely depressed.
  • Only about half had Medicare.
  • The median household income among Asian-American senior citizens is $8,500 a year.
